Statement

I have always practiced both studio art and public art, with each influencing the other. My studio art is mostly assemblage, relief sculptures using mixed media materials, found objects and paint. My public art is mostly mosaic tile but often incorporates fabricated metal elements, found objects, handmade ceramic pieces and pebbles. Some of these materials find their way back into my studio art work.

For the past several years, I have been doing mostly large-scale public works. I like the challenge of designing work to be walked on, sat on, danced on and just used. If I were to name one thing that distinguishes my work, it would be the way I use and combine materials. I try to give the materials a voice and let them tell the story.
